What is Breast Reduction Surgery?

A breast reduction surgery is also known as reduction mammoplasty, which removes excess boobs tissues and skin to achieve a proper proportionate breast with an aesthetic size suited to the patient’s acceptable body figure and physique.

Types of Breast Reduction Surgery

There has been considerable evolution in mammoplasty theory and technique over recent years. The top mammoplasty techniques that are available are as follows:

  • Circumareolar Breast Reduction– A reduction mammoplasty performed with a “doughnut” incision made around the areola only.
  • Circumvertical Breast Reduction–A “Lollipop” reduction mammoplasty, or short scar mammoplasty with an incision around the areola and a vertical line.
  • Wise-Pattern Reduction – The more classical “Inverted-T” breast reduction, with an incision around the areola, a vertical line to the inframammary crease, and a horizontal line.
  • Suction-Assisted Breast Reduction –A mammoplasty performed with liposuction, solely, or in conjunction with the above.

Breast Lift

Age changes in the breasts A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes including loss of skin elasticity can result from pregnancy, breast feeding, weight fluctuations, aging and gravity. All these factors play a major role in making the breasts sag. Heredity may also be a factor- a woman in her teens may experience loose sagging breast tissue.
Breasts that have lost their firm, uplifted contours can affect a woman’s self-image and confidence. If you desire to restore the firmness and shape of your breasts, then a breast lift procedure may be right for you.

If you desire to restore the firmness and shape of your breasts, then a breast lift procedure may be right for you. Sometimes the areola (pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) has become enlarged over time. Who is it for?

Breast lift is most suitable for women who have breasts that have sagged (ptosis), or have become loose. Sometimes there can be developmental asymmetry in the breasts due to them being at different levels. This procedure, can be used to correct existing breast asymmetry as well. It is also useful to achieve symmetry after breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Some women have a combination of loss of breast volume and sagging. Such patients may need a breast augmentation along with a breast lift.

What is Breast lift Surgery?

Breast Lift is also known as Mastopexy. The surgery raises the saggy, droopy boobs by removing the excess skin and tightening the tissue to provide a lifted contour to the boobs. It also reduces the areola size if it is enlarged. A variety of incision patterns are practiced in the procedure.

The type of breast lift procedure to opt for depends on these factors:

  • Size and shape of the breast
  • The size and position of your areolas
  • The amount of sag on your breast
  • Skin quality and elasticity as well as the amount of extra skin

There are three common incision patterns:

  • Periareolar mastopexy, incision Around the areola.
  • The incision can be made around the areola and vertically down from the areola to the breast crease, vertical lift or vertical mammoplasty.
  • The third method is the incision made around the areola, vertically down from the crease and horizontally along the breast crease.

The underlying breast tissue is lifted and it is restructured to provide firmness and contour of the breast. The nipple and areola are relocated to a natural, more youthful height. If necessary, enlarged areolas are reduced by excising skin at the perimeter. Excess boob’s skin is removed to provide elasticity to the skin.
The incision marks are made in such a way that it is concealed in the natural breast contours. The incision marks will significantly improve in a few months.
